&nbsp;Have you heard of <a href="http://heartsy.me/users/144126/referral?c=plink">Heartsy</a>? &nbsp;I hadn't till yesterday! &nbsp;<a href="http://heartsy.me/users/144126/referral?c=plink">Heartsy</a> is a site that has deals on handmade goods!<br /> <center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://heartsy.me/users/144126/referral?c=plink"><img border="0" height="536" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aVq_4AbhT3o/TguKcWbjOHI/AAAAAAAAAzA/x8zucoXT2Jo/s640/Screen+shot+2011-06-29+at+1.17.08+PM.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /> <center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><center style="text-align: left;">So this was the deal I got! &nbsp; What do you get for the man who has everything? &nbsp;Well after wandering around Hobby Lobby for an hour I came up with something that didn't require me to spend any money! &nbsp;(my husband was super happy to walk out with me only spending $1 for a doll stand which is for something completely different)</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mecx9iBsk78/Tff9jTEcLsI/AAAAAAAAAyo/rwO1IeVnDvk/s1600/IMG_2041a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="120" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mecx9iBsk78/Tff9jTEcLsI/AAAAAAAAAyo/rwO1IeVnDvk/s400/IMG_2041a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><center style="text-align: left;">Anyways I made this sign for him which is a nick name and kind of an inside joke! &nbsp; The board is 14x4 inches. &nbsp; All I did was spray paint it a chocolate brown, stencil on the letters and then do a crackle finish with an antiquing medium to make the cracks stand out!</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><center style="text-align: left;">It was super cheap too since the board itself was from my stash (there were a bunch at goodwill for only $1 a piece so I grabbed a stack) plus I picked the paint from my stash on hand as well as the crackle medium! &nbsp; This is why I like to stock up on craft things when they are cheap and I have coupons! &nbsp;I only stalk up on paints that are colors I will use over and over again. &nbsp; No need to buy a ton of purple paint or fake daisies if you will only ever want to use it for one project! &nbsp;I found 6 yards of dark burlap for $6 at a local thrift shop and busted it out!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UaXoMnQDY4A/TekIkPtOFtI/AAAAAAAAAxw/EErN0G1f3Bc/s1600/IMG_1970.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UaXoMnQDY4A/TekIkPtOFtI/AAAAAAAAAxw/EErN0G1f3Bc/s400/IMG_1970.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Close up!</div><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><center style="text-align: left;">Luckily the lamp shade is plastic that can be undone and laid flat. &nbsp; So I took it off and laid it out on the burlap and traced it's shape (it slants out just a little so it was kind of bowed). &nbsp; Then I made a sleeve of burlap to slip over it. &nbsp;I didn't want to make it permanent because I knew the dark burlap would cut down on a lot of light which might not be appropriate in future use. &nbsp;I sewed the burlap sleeve together and then I tested that the lamp shade fit in. &nbsp;Pulled it back out, slid in some cardboard and then started painting in the vinyl stencil I cut out from my Silhouette.</center><center style="text-align: left;"><br /> </center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxB4fIU2_-w/TekIbo07k5I/AAAAAAAAAxs/wlhuaNGJIOM/s1600/IMG_1955.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxB4fIU2_-w/TekIbo07k5I/AAAAAAAAAxs/wlhuaNGJIOM/s400/IMG_1955.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I think it finally stands out in it's corner now! &nbsp; It has some pop back there! &nbsp; The walls in our new place are a light tanish and our new curtains are a green with hints of brown. &nbsp;I am still thinking of doing brown slipcovers on the couches and then painting the wood end tables in a light blue. &nbsp;I like green, blue and brown together but I'm afraid the green curtains aren't the right shade of green.... hmm who knows. &nbsp; This picture doesn't do the curtains justice really.<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aHxxlDw7icI/TekIqnGcDzI/AAAAAAAAAx0/c7fTlV2gKgk/s1600/IMG_1971.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aHxxlDw7icI/TekIqnGcDzI/AAAAAAAAAx0/c7fTlV2gKgk/s400/IMG_1971.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>So I did four stencils on the lampshade so you can see it from where ever you are sitting! Lay out burlap and fold in half. &nbsp;Place soup can and begin tracing around it across the burlap in rows. &nbsp;(I made 60 circles which yielded 120 burlap pieces from the primary burlap)<br /> <br /> 2. &nbsp;Repeat the first step with secondary burlap but I only did 15 traces.<br /> <br /> 3. &nbsp;Cut out all the circles (leave the fabric doubled up to cut two at a time)<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2HxUiB2jBlY/Tdh9mOUe-HI/AAAAAAAAAtE/_1mmDXoFYgo/s1600/IMG_1928.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="361" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2HxUiB2jBlY/Tdh9mOUe-HI/AAAAAAAAAtE/_1mmDXoFYgo/s400/IMG_1928.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> 4. &nbsp;Pinch the circles in half and then pinch the other ends in to make a burlap flower.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-trYN3wglU10/Tdh9qdW1d9I/AAAAAAAAAtI/9hywDJu2mMA/s1600/IMG_1929.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-trYN3wglU10/Tdh9qdW1d9I/AAAAAAAAAtI/9hywDJu2mMA/s400/IMG_1929.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> 5. &nbsp; Now sew the end together to keep the folds in place. &nbsp; No need to do anything fancy or worry about doing a stay stich they just need to stay together to get it to the glueing stage!<br /> <br /> 6. &nbsp;Cut 1 inch wide strips of burlap the length of your yardage to wrap around the topiary form.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wi1RT4dGhGU/Tdh9hjce8NI/AAAAAAAAAs8/oCgp6uebUUI/s1600/IMG_1894.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wi1RT4dGhGU/Tdh9hjce8NI/AAAAAAAAAs8/oCgp6uebUUI/s400/IMG_1894.jpg" width="340" /></a></div>7. &nbsp;Glue one end &nbsp;of the strip and begin wrapping it around to cover the form. &nbsp;Glue down end and repeat with another strip until it covers the whole form. &nbsp; This will provide a base so that when you peek through the burlap flowers you don't see the form.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gNpA7rPTmqs/Tdh9tQdz_0I/AAAAAAAAAtM/ooRY9I-r_X0/s1600/IMG_1940.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gNpA7rPTmqs/Tdh9tQdz_0I/AAAAAAAAAtM/ooRY9I-r_X0/s400/IMG_1940.jpg" width="397" /></a></div><br /> 8. &nbsp;Take one of the flowers and put the glue on the bottom tip then place it on the topiary. &nbsp;I started at the very top and worked out and around from there. &nbsp; They don't need to be super close since the flowers have body and the wrapped burlap saves any peek-a-boos. &nbsp;I used about 50-60 primary flowers and 15 secondary flowers per topiary.<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T3aX6w2_mO0/Tdh9_-AWh9I/AAAAAAAAAtc/lvpvc9zOoPo/s1600/IMG_1949.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T3aX6w2_mO0/Tdh9_-AWh9I/AAAAAAAAAtc/lvpvc9zOoPo/s400/IMG_1949.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> 9. &nbsp; Then I used some Spanish Moss I found at a thrift store to cover the base and add some green dimension!<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-inmTCAEilCc/Tdh95l9jdsI/AAAAAAAAAtY/yGl6bPvzU7I/s1600/IMG_1945.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-inmTCAEilCc/Tdh95l9jdsI/AAAAAAAAAtY/yGl6bPvzU7I/s400/IMG_1945.jpg" width="355" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SXRd2kgFLz0/Tdh-CmtyhuI/AAAAAAAAAtg/fh7g6NInQKs/s1600/IMG_1951.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SXRd2kgFLz0/Tdh-CmtyhuI/AAAAAAAAAtg/fh7g6NInQKs/s400/IMG_1951.jpg" width="301" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /> </div>10. &nbsp;Yeah it was a great investment since I use it for EVERYTHING! &nbsp;I made half the place mat at a time since they are huge Ikea mats!<br /> <br /> Here is my design..<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2mIEja4r4fw/Tc21OBGnQ2I/AAAAAAAAAr4/2r28R8qD4PU/s1600/forcutter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2mIEja4r4fw/Tc21OBGnQ2I/AAAAAAAAAr4/2r28R8qD4PU/s320/forcutter.jpg" width="182" /></a></div>All I had to do was make two cuts with my silhouette a right side like above then I flipped it and cut a left side. &nbsp;I was able to lay it down, paint it, peel it off and then repeat for each mat so that I didn't have to waste vinyl material which kept my costs down!<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vM9QJffL52o/Tc21o7oLYCI/AAAAAAAAAsE/64gM9c19E0E/s1600/IMG_1815.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vM9QJffL52o/Tc21o7oLYCI/AAAAAAAAAsE/64gM9c19E0E/s320/IMG_1815.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> The place mats only cost a dollar each at Ikea and I obviously already had the silhouette, vinyl, plus I had the fabric paint on hand! &nbsp;Plus I decided to search for all new bloggers to give to award the award to!<br /> <br /> Anyways here is the deal -<br /> 1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them.<br /> 2. Tell seven things about yourself.<br /> 3. Pay if forward and award the Versatile Blogger to 15 recently discovered new bloggers.<br /> 4. Contact everyone and let them know they've been awarded!<br /> <br /> <b>THANK YOU ANGELA</b>! &nbsp; She has such a cute <a href="http://loveseweetlove.blogspot.com/">blog</a>! &nbsp;Seriously go check <a href="http://loveseweetlove.blogspot.com/">it</a> out ... I'm a person, I breathe :P )<br /> <br /> <ol style="text-align: left;"><li>I am half way done with my Masters of Fine Arts degree! &nbsp;I just finished the first year last week and already am trying to figure out what I will be doing over the summer to prep for next year. &nbsp; So my life is literally full of crafting. &nbsp;I go to my school studio and work on my art, teach and then come home to do crafts for the Hubs and I. &nbsp;I love creating art but sometimes it is more fun to just come home and make CUTE things!</li> <li>I like to watch TV while crafting. &nbsp;I know a lot of people like to put on music but in the last year or so I started just putting on a movie or tv show. &nbsp;Somehow I multitask the two! &nbsp; My husband doesn't get it but it totally works for me! &nbsp;Except for the fact that I can go through a TV Season in 2-3 days!!!! &nbsp;Any suggestions for TV shows or movies this summer? &nbsp;I'll be putting in 7 hour crafting days!</li> <li>I only really came into my own Decorating style this year! &nbsp; It started as I was planning my wedding trying to make it my own and now it continues to flourish in my newlywed bliss! (vintage frames, lace, paper epherma, birds and green) &nbsp; The Hubs and I just moved into a new place (seriously only put my clothes in the closet an hour ago) and I am really excited to start decorating it with my personal touches! &nbsp; It may not come out perfect but I sure am trying!</li> <li>I HATE bugs. &nbsp;I just unloaded a whole can of bug spray in our new place to keep all the little pests out! &nbsp;I even made my own poking stick a while back to smash spiders from a 4 foot distance!</li> <li>I grew up a TOTAL TOMBOY! &nbsp;Honestly I was always the one girl on the basketball court playing with the boys. &nbsp; It took me a long time to admit that some guys were stronger than me. &nbsp;I have gotten to an age where I can admit I need help though! &nbsp;I've always had more guy friends than girls (still not sure why) and I never wore a skirt unless I was forced to. &nbsp; Now I wear a dress or skirt basically every other day because I find them more comfortable and I try to make friends with girls.... still working on that one though.</li> <li>I LOVE ice cream. &nbsp;I honestly eat a cup almost every night! &nbsp;Although for my dear sweet hips I make homemade chocolate sorbet or other lite ice creams!</li> <li>I have an abundance of stick notes because I am a total LIST MAKER due to the fact that I like to get things done! &nbsp;Honestly I am the task master! &nbsp;I'll even make lists of all the things to look for in the antique mall or at least a list of all the projects I am working on! &nbsp; In fact I have 22 computer sticky notes and 12 on my phone and lots of little ones around the house and studio :)</li> </ol><div>Anyways enough about me! &nbsp;</div><div><br /> </div><div>Here are some Fantastic blogs I found in the last few days.</div><div><a href="http://www.dandee-designs.com/">[Dandee]</a></div><div><a href="http://niftythriftythings.blogspot.com/">{Nifty Thrifty Things}</a></div><div><a href="http://aprettylifeinthesuburbs.blogspot.com/">A Pretty Life in the Suburbs</a></div><div><a href="http://fabrehabcreations.blogspot.com/">Fab Rehab Creations</a></div><div><a href="http://greylustergirl.blogspot.com/">Grey Luster Girl</a></div><div><a href="http://www.krazycraftylady.com/">Krazy Crafty Lady</a></div><div><a href="http://morrowsunshine.blogspot.com/">Little Rays of Sunshine</a></div><div><a href="http://occasionallycrafty.blogspot.com/">Occasionally Crafty</a></div><div><a href="http://ouradventuresinhomeimprovement.blogspot.com/">Our Adventures in Home Improvement</a></div><div><a href="http://www.stuff-and-nonsense.net/">Stuff and Nonesense</a></div><div><a href="http://littlebirdiebaby.blogspot.com/">The Little Birdie Blog</a></div><div><a href="http://thesweetsurvival.blogspot.com/">The Sweet Survival</a></div><div><a href="http://twotwenty-one.blogspot.com/">Two Twenty One</a></div><div><a href="http://221vision.com/#axzz1LpRDWFOJ">Two Friends Two Cities</a></div><div><a href="http://yellowplumblossoms.blogspot.com/">Yellow Plus Blossoms</a></div><div><br /> </div><div><br /> </div><div>Hope you all enjoyed the tidbits about me and find some inspiration in the bloggers I nominated!</div><div><br /> </div><div>Thank you all for reading!</div><div><br /> </div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/28286943068032094-5978006564614435314?l=www.thegoodeyknot.com' alt='' /></div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/rb75_SB4s1El30JCH0ROrHaGgY8/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/rb75_SB4s1El30JCH0ROrHaGgY8/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/rb75_SB4s1El30JCH0ROrHaGgY8/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/rb75_SB4s1El30JCH0ROrHaGgY8/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p>/2011/05/versatile-blogger.htmlkaitlinlee88@gmail.com (Kaitlin)9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28286943068032094.post-8146252844801637240Fri, 06 May 2011 05:33:00 +00002011-05-05T22:33:49.747-07:00bloggingApartment LifeMoving? SHOE MAKEOVER! &nbsp;I could paint my own shoes with the help of my Trusty Silhouette! &nbsp;I seriously love my Silhouette it's magic!<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pc-VEj5ttCA/Tboe1LcQODI/AAAAAAAAAq8/ptrrjRkscz4/s1600/IMG_1700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pc-VEj5ttCA/Tboe1LcQODI/AAAAAAAAAq8/ptrrjRkscz4/s400/IMG_1700.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> So I measured the tops of my shoes and then started making a design in my Silhouette program. &nbsp;I'm not really a fan of pink but some pink vinyl came in the discounted Silhouette kit I got so I thought this would be a good time to use it. (you could also try and use wax paper and iron it to the shoe) &nbsp;Once I had come up with my springy/summer design for my shoes I cut it out and placed it on the shoe like a stencil.<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-18XUEWScIao/TbofALPqfmI/AAAAAAAAArE/XvuFis0NYok/s1600/IMG_1731.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-18XUEWScIao/TbofALPqfmI/AAAAAAAAArE/XvuFis0NYok/s400/IMG_1731.jpg" width="285" /></a></div><br /> I picked up some fabric paint from Michaels with the 20% off total purchase coupon they have right now. &nbsp;I just did basic colors but with the bright White I knew they would pop!<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ab3wTfH9AZA/Tboe6LarVgI/AAAAAAAAArA/JB1QxWyyF04/s1600/IMG_1725.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ab3wTfH9AZA/Tboe6LarVgI/AAAAAAAAArA/JB1QxWyyF04/s400/IMG_1725.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>Didn't they turn out great? &nbsp;I am SO pleased with them. &nbsp;Honestly I get finally use my shoes without being afraid to get them dirty and saved myself from needing a new pair of shoes! &nbsp;I think the letters were a $1 each, yarn came from my stash (got some on sale for 2-$5) but only used a small portion for these, I think the long stick pole thing was $1 (I cut into 4 pieces), the plastic flowers came in little bundles of 9 stalks for $1 and finally the pots I got at a thrift store for .50 cents!<br /> <br /> So for all three total I would say it cost me about $10! So you could easily do a monogram set for a person or for a couple with an ampersand!<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s9cUrEZ3BEA/TZntVQ1e-6I/AAAAAAAAAp4/3qb9w2RVPcs/s1600/IMG_1261.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s9cUrEZ3BEA/TZntVQ1e-6I/AAAAAAAAAp4/3qb9w2RVPcs/s320/IMG_1261.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZZmGIT7FWHY/TZntatRqdhI/AAAAAAAAAqE/tPRgXnbujlo/s1600/IMG_1267.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZZmGIT7FWHY/TZntatRqdhI/AAAAAAAAAqE/tPRgXnbujlo/s320/IMG_1267.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6LWmcuaS4-Q/TZntc1r1r4I/AAAAAAAAAqM/3VU5WQ_V6Ow/s1600/IMG_1270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6LWmcuaS4-Q/TZntc1r1r4I/AAAAAAAAAqM/3VU5WQ_V6Ow/s320/IMG_1270.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> &nbsp; So I tried the N first which didn't go all that well. &nbsp; It was tricky to wrap but I got the S down pretty easily.<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pn7_KQq3IaA/TZntQU9rapI/AAAAAAAAApw/QAR1Q46vMXA/s1600/IMG_1252.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pn7_KQq3IaA/TZntQU9rapI/AAAAAAAAApw/QAR1Q46vMXA/s320/IMG_1252.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SJwqhER1akE/TZntTVR4lrI/AAAAAAAAAp0/E-FNMMdv7_E/s1600/IMG_1257.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SJwqhER1akE/TZntTVR4lrI/AAAAAAAAAp0/E-FNMMdv7_E/s320/IMG_1257.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I cut the plastic flower stalks down to fit the height of the pot, I grabbed a wad of brown yarn for the dirt and I stuck the pole and plastic flowers into foam! &nbsp;Plus Jo-Ann had a deal on yarn. &nbsp; So I went and picked out my new favorite colors (for our future living room). &nbsp; Then started wrapping the wreath! &nbsp;Only I didn't realize how hard it would be with a straw wreath because it it gets caught on EVERYTHING. &nbsp; So it was taking FOREVER! &nbsp; So I took a really long break from working on it. &nbsp;I thought about and then would work on something else.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2Cr9mzEj-JI/TZYABFjkczI/AAAAAAAAApc/e569Pnsbceo/s1600/IMG_1208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2Cr9mzEj-JI/TZYABFjkczI/AAAAAAAAApc/e569Pnsbceo/s320/IMG_1208.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /> </div><div>Then I finally realized I should just wrap it in duck tape! Dang. &nbsp; So I've been busting my butt working on school stuff from 8am to 10 pm. &nbsp;Seriously! &nbsp; My show is in three weeks so most any crafting will be for my MFA stuff vs the home for a little bit. &nbsp; However I need my sanity and I already have some half started projects.<br /> <br /> So beyond photographing stuff what did I do?<br /> <br /> PAPER MACHE!!!! <br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5nIGeV5Sne0/TY1FgnRpifI/AAAAAAAAApM/ew6XrfTH_VU/s1600/IMG_1309.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5nIGeV5Sne0/TY1FgnRpifI/AAAAAAAAApM/ew6XrfTH_VU/s320/IMG_1309.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <br /> <br /> Oh yeah so fun. &nbsp;I just mixed up a batch of paper mache (one part flour two parts water) and tore up a bunch of printer paper since we didn't have any newspaper (plus I wanted an aged white finish).<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y1E00YJtVZw/TY1FqdSvyxI/AAAAAAAAApQ/uZ5OMBE6Yw0/s1600/IMG_1311.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y1E00YJtVZw/TY1FqdSvyxI/AAAAAAAAApQ/uZ5OMBE6Yw0/s320/IMG_1311.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Isn't this such a cute duckie?</div><br /> <br /> I used thrift store objects to paper mache which I think could be a good option to change it up from painting things.... or just adding texture before painting!<br /> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-KgSXMBD5cSA/TY1Gc0ZvBAI/AAAAAAAAApU/0SymNb6aU9A/s1600/IMG_1314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-KgSXMBD5cSA/TY1Gc0ZvBAI/AAAAAAAAApU/0SymNb6aU9A/s320/IMG_1314.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is as clean of a pic as I could get in my crazy studio at school!</div><br /> Once you put 3-4 layers on you can cut the mold in half and remove the object. &nbsp; Then you paper mache it closed and can paint it or leave it.<br /> <br /> I'm loving them and I can't wait to do more!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/28286943068032094-769904443927221242?l=www.thegoodeyknot.com' alt='' /></div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/1UweHWKi9Fat6EfgGr74lghwLXw/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/1UweHWKi9Fat6EfgGr74lghwLXw/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/1UweHWKi9Fat6EfgGr74lghwLXw/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/1UweHWKi9Fat6EfgGr74lghwLXw/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p>/2011/03/paper-mache-much.htmlkaitlinlee88@gmail.com (Kaitlin)5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28286943068032094.post-4129242456206800950Sat, 19 Mar 2011 02:00:00 +00002011-03-18T19:00:45.181-07:00ThriftlifebloggingcraftthriftingJust one of those fabulous days!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Heck yeah it's a good day!<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NxnF9ywVnWY/TYQKuKzDIOI/AAAAAAAAApA/UhZR-mYecCQ/s1600/Screen+shot+2011-03-18+at+2.26.31+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NxnF9ywVnWY/TYQKuKzDIOI/AAAAAAAAApA/UhZR-mYecCQ/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-18+at+2.26.31+PM.png" width="213" /></a></div><br /> We've been in seattle all week so beyond being sleep deprived due to sharing a full bed (I don't share well... oops) we've loved being back in seattle! &nbsp;Thrifting (my tiny car is full), visiting family and just chilling has filled our days.<br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-4HuQB1u4J70/TYQKu0b5HEI/AAAAAAAAApE/-_Xl68ZuO_w/s1600/Screen+shot+2011-03-18+at+2.27.12+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-4HuQB1u4J70/TYQKu0b5HEI/AAAAAAAAApE/-_Xl68ZuO_w/s320/Screen+shot+2011-03-18+at+2.27.12+PM.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <br /> So why is today so great?
