Wondering Where I have Gone?

I haven't totally abandoned crafting or your guys but my time has needed to be spent elsewhere.  I am almost half way through my final year of my Masters of Fine Arts program.  So I am busy busy busy working on figuring out my thesis and creating lots of art work for it.

I started a side blog that shows the dolls I have been making for my thesis work (GoodeyDolls).  It is no where near as nicely designed as this blog but again time and money are tight right now as I spend all of it on art supplies!
Joslyn... She's a trouble maker

Ashleigh... she always wanted to be a normal little girl they had such beautiful hair and soft toys.

Ashleigh collects the things they leave behind... hoping someday she might even snag a little girl for herself.

Elain is pretty shy.  The kids used to tug on her antlers so she kept to herself mostly.  She'll always say hi for some fresh berries though.

Celeste... a mysterious little girl she is the moons light on a clear night.
And I have SO many more in progress!  The 3rd and 4th from the left are currently my favorite!  Don't tell the others though or they might attack me in my sleep!

I've become a crazy doll lady :P  Which I think is really just the child in me who survived!

Anyways I have not abandoned crafting I have just diverted most of my energy elsewhere for now.  However with christmas around the corner I'm sure you'll be seeing me come up with some lovely things for my home.  Christmas is my favorite decorating time of the year!

Inspiration Vacation!

We went to visit the Grandparents on our vacation!  Oh they are so cute and old!  I can only hope my husband and I are such a cute old couple!

My Hubby Helped his grandpa in the garden a little.  Grandpa has his chairs positioned all around the garden for perfect breaks!

This swing called my name... just look at the lighting!

Grapes in his little garden... just hanging out!

Grandpa took a little too long of a break and let the artichokes bloom!

Now this wall screams GRANDMA to me!

This train is handmade by grandpa... we love ours that sits in our living room.

This is a little cubby in the kitchen I love how things are pinned all over the wall!

Strawberry sauce and changes!

(please bare with me there is some explanation before the Strawberry sauce but I think it is all worth it)

OK so I was on vacation before Vacation really began(August was the official vacation).  I got really caught up in my art work which I don't think is a bad thing AT ALL it just didn't lend itself to being blogger friendly.  I started making art dolls which look like this...

Elodie, Celeste and Joslyn!
Joslyn out in the flowers!

Anyways, I was using a lot of this summer as a time for experimenting with my art since I am about ready to start my second year of my Master of Fine Art program.  At the end of this school year I have a major show and need to turn in a dissertation so it might get crazy around my house :P

So first off I just wanted to share with you what I have been up to behind the scenes.

Secondly I got a new hair cut!!

long hair....

With this change I decided I needed a little change in my waist region too!  I was on a good track to loosing weight until I started grad school and then got married... at which time I gained 10-15 pounds back when I still have 10 pounds left to hit my original goal.... shoot.  Anyways I started Weight Watchers recently and am trying to kick my sweet tooth into shape.  With this you might see more food related posts now!

So while we were on vacation a waitress brought me out some jelly for my pancakes which I though was odd but I tried it... FANTASTIC!  With this in mind my husband and I pureed 5 cups of strawberries since fruit and veggies are 0 points!!!!

Don't ask me where the photo of the Cuisinart hand blender in action went... because I'm clueless.  I swear I got one but there is no proof obviously!

Anyways I didn't add anything to the strawberries.  They were just cut up and blended and now ready to pour all over whatever I choose!  I am sure you could add sugar if you needed but honestly it was such a quick and easy topping to make!

I dare you to make some and put it on your pancake or waffle you won't regret it!

Vacation Inspiration!

Hello All!  For the next three weeks I am on vacation visiting family and friends... craft shows, thrift stores, antique shops and many a home.  So instead of dropping out of blog land I thought I would do posts on inspiration!  However I didn't really think about it until after I had already started the vacation so pics this round aren't spectacular (i'll work on it but an iphone is an iphone ya know?)

Anyways... Allied Arts fair!  The overwhelming theme this year was Metal art!  Tons of metal garden sculpture caught my eye but this booth in particular had some great flowers!  Kind of hard to photograph though when there are so many people and things everywhere!
Love the glass balls too!

If only I had a garden to put these in!

Waiting in the shade for the rest of the family!

We were hoping for some art for our house but everything was traditional painting or photography... a lot of plants and landscapes which isn't really our style.  To get an idea of our style here are two artists I adore!

Pepperoni Pizza Bread - Recipe Group!

Well a little bit ago was recipe group with my church girls!  I hadn't actually done this pizza bread before but it turned out great!

So I didn't do the best of photographing making the pizza bread due to being in a rush but no fear here is the tutorial/recipe I followed and it has Wonderful photos!
See look YUMMY! Makes me want to make it all over again!

So here are some shots from my attempt!
I doubled the recipe so I had plenty to share.

I think I accidentally put a little more than 1/4 down in each for the first layer but oh well!

As you can see in all my doubling math I accidentally doubled in a spot I shouldn't!  I added way to much red sauce to the middle and didn't have enough to really cover the top.  The only issue this really causes is that when it's cooked and ready to serve it falls apart at that layer spot!  You kind of need the top dough to connect to the bottom to hold it all together!

Here is the recipe I got from Picky Palate!  I seriously suggest going and looking at her photos she took photos of almost all the steps!

Pepperoni Pizza Bread!

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons backing powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 cup quartered pepperoni slices, about 32
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan Cheese

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and spray small bread pan with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Place flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper into the bowl of a stand or electric mixer, mix to combine.

3. Slowly add in eggs, oil, buttermilk, Parmesan, Mozzarella and pepperoni until combined.

4. Pour half of the batter into prepared bread pan (9x5x2 3/4 inches)

5. Top evenly with marinara sauce then pour remaining batter over sauce.

6. Top with Italian seasoning and additional Parmesan Cheese.

7. Bake for 45-55 minutes (toothpick test) and let cool for 30 mins before removing from pan.

Makes 8 servings!

Oh by the way the reason my night stands haven't turned up on the blog yet is because the clear protective coat was a FAIL!  It turned yellow!!!  So I need to sand it off and do some touch up paint! Which is what I will be working on today.  I went a little MIA as well due to training for a MASSIVE relay! I will post about that later though!

Making Friends and Refurbishing Furniture!

My husband and I recently made some new friends and of course what better activity is there than to paint furniture with them?  They brought over a small two drawer night stand and a book shelf to paint while my husband and I worked on two night stands and an end table we use for our printer table :)

So after shopping the mistint section we picked out some great colors that go along with my new color obsessions!  However another layer is needed and I would like to put a protective layer on as well.... so here is a preview!
Some special details too!

Birds and their houses!

So I was on a Spray paint ROLL!!!  I just love the colors I picked up and the painted objects are adding lovely pops of color around our house!

I busted out these sweet little birds!  I think they are a great pair that I got on super sale at Joann.

Then I turned this little sweety into....

Spray yellow, sanded edges and then I antiqued  it with some dark stain.

Then I found a stand painted it the same yellow, propped the house up and surrounded it with some more cute birds!  Have you noticed I like birds, yellow, blue and green yet?

Here is a sneak peek of my next project!

Heartsy Love!

Alright I fell off the bandwagon a bit but I am BACK!  I have something to share with you that I am SO excited about!  I have a few artists I follow from Etsy and yesterday one of the posted a deal on facebook that opened up a whole new door for me!  Have you heard of Heartsy?  I hadn't till yesterday!  Heartsy is a site that has deals on handmade goods!

So this was the deal I got!  However they actually give you a $5 credit for your first purchase!  So I got this "voucher" for $17 and then went to Paola's etsy shop and ordered 5 prints which came to about the $55 dollar mark!  Seriously how rockin is that?  I am so excited!

At the checkout they gave me all the directions I needed to use my voucher!  I already used it with no delay!  You don't have to use it all at once though and it is good for 3 months from the date you purchased it... or at least mine was!  I just blacked out the code part on the image above not because I don't trust you all but... Safety first!

Anyways they have lots of new deals all the time!  Anything from clothing to art to bath products!  There are only so many vouchers for each offer though.  I have my eye on another art one but I promised my husband I would wait until the 1st to get it... we will see if the deal is still on then or not.  Either way I'll be ok because it's better to save money!

If you haven't already go check out Heartsy and tell me what you are loving!

Have you scored any great deals on Heartsy?
